Rich Warneke served as radio operator during his tour with the US Army. In 1998, he retired from driving a tanker for a major oil company, and the following year, started a new career in law enforcement. Rich was hired by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office as a correction officer. In 2003, he completed training at the police academy and was hired by the Waynesville Police Department as a police officer. During this time, he was also training his German Shepherd, Ramsey, in tracking and drug detection. He has a very strong family support system, his wife, two daughters, and three grandchildren that keep him busy. In 2007, he was honored by his fellow officers, receiving recognition as the 2007 Waynesville Police Department Officer of the Year.
