Computer forensics is a growing field and is being utilized more often. One definition of computer forensics is:
The application of computer investigation and analysis techniques to gather evidence suitable for presentation in a court of law.
This includes the searching, discovery and collection of electronic evidence in accordance with state and federal evidence collection/retention rules.
During a crime, or progression of a crime, items may be stored on a computer hard drive, portable storage device (flash drive, external hard drive) or even a cell phone.
